Hiking at Dome Rock Park
Today I went hiking at Dome Rock State Park, which is about 30 miles west of Colorado Springs (take 24 West, then 67 south for almost 6 miles, then "veer to the right" on Fourmile road and go on that for about 2 miles). Ok. I missed the "veering off" because the road is not marked. I took the next right (dirt road) and that took me up the mountain side to various roads where an occassional house is being built. One part of the road was SNOW and since it was on the edge of a dropoff, well, let's say I made sure I concentrated real good!

I left that neighborhood and found Fourmile road and made my way to the park. Got my hiking boots on, grabbed my half-filled bottle of Gatorade and my walking stick...I was ready to go hiking. The trail is used by both man and horse (although the entire 2 1/2 hours I was there I did not see anyone or anything...not even a bird!). The trail was a gradual incline, and then it was a steep incline. Had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath and to let my heart stop beating up my insides (in other words, it was working hard!). :) There were occassional parts of the trail that had snow...

After about an hour I made it to the "top" of the main trail, but there was another part of the trail that went even higher...and it called my name. So I answered the call. Probably another 50-75 yards of trail before I reached the top. And it was scenic. No wildlife to be seen, but the views were really awesome.

Tomorrow I head back to Texas. This journey is almost over. And I am ready to come back home. Oh, I forgot to mention that I got a phone call after I started heading back down from the final top of the trail. It was Steve, the guy who is watching my house. That was kind of cool, because once I left the top part of the trail, no more phone service.

Thank you for taking this journey with me. Once I get home and learn how to get video from my camera to my PC, then I will post some more entries with interesting clips, like the windy time atop Pikes Peak.

Until next time, remember that God exists, Jesus rose from the dead and is returning soon, and to live your life as a living sacrifice to Him.

Hi Friend,
I'm still with ya. Had trouble getting to the site the last couple of days. Probably because the Lord wanted some
solo time.
Well you're on the home stretch, and its all downhill from here:)I have a Colorado story I'll share later from last year. Kind of brought my whole travel experience together.
I'm not surprised you felt kind of "blah" near the Garden of the gods. After all, there is only ONE!
Take care, drive safe, and we'll see you soon.
"Be strong in the Lord, and the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not war against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."
Ephesians 6: 11-13

Name: Tracy!

By now you are home and recovering! I finally got caught up enough to look through the last few days of your web page. This last picture is where i want to be! I want my house (log cabin) at the top of this road overlooking nothing but wilderness! (ok maybe my summer cabin! There probably isn't a Wally world close enough!)

I am so glad that you got to experience all of this but DON'T DO IT AGAIN! We missed you too much!

See you soon! (i hope you have a video party/bbq!)

love ya
